Baby Shower Card Idea - A Children’s Book Makes a Useful Baby Shower Card

Sometimes a baby book is requested in a baby shower invitation, but even if it's not using a favorite children’s book for your baby shower or welcome baby card is a great idea. A favorite children's book is definitely longer lasting and more useful than a typical greeting card and may even turn into a family heirloom.

As a mom, each day at storytime it’s so fun to open and read a handwritten note to baby from grandma and grandpa, aunts and uncles, family and friends. My little guy loves looking at the special notes and signatures too.
Here are two examples of baby books we recently used as baby shower "cards".

- The Monster at the End of This Book starring lovable, furry old Grover from Sesame Street
- Curious Baby My First Nursery Songs (Curious George Board Book and CD)

Be creative and write a special note for baby and their family to enjoy.  In case you're not sure what to write inside, I'll share the wording used in these baby shower "cards" that are signed with fine tip colored sharpie markers.
"This book is a favorite at our house.  Hope it brings lots of fun and laughter to your family too."
"Sleep well for Mommy and Daddy.  Can't wait to play with you!" (from our baby to her new baby cousin)

I like to pair a children's book baby "card" with items from the baby registry or a gift card to a favorite baby store.

Also, check out our list of Favorite Books for Babies and Toddlers that would make a great addition to baby's first library and would work well as baby shower and welcome baby cards.
