Magic Homemade Shower Cleaner - Only 2 Ingredients!

I love having everything clean and organized, but often life happens and I get behind. That’s definitely the case right now as I’m nearing the end of my pregnancy.  I realized the shower has not been scrubbed down for longer than I care to admit. So when I saw this simple 2 ingredient homemade shower cleaner popping up all over Pinterest, I decided it was worth a try. Best of all, it fits right in with my goal of getting rid of all the unhealthy chemical cleaners in our home and replacing them with more natural and green cleaning alternatives, like how we now use vinegar in a spray bottle for the majority of our household cleaning. Since I have some leftover Blue Dawn Dish Soap and always have warehouse club size bottles of White Vinegar on hand for cleaning, it’s time to experiment and give this simple Homemade Shower Cleaner Recipe a go.

To make my Magic Shower Cleaner, I didn’t bother heating up the vinegar like the original article recommends. I simply mixed equal parts of blue Dawn dish soap with white vinegar in an old garden spray bottle and shook it vigorously to mix. I sprayed my new homemade shower cleaner all over our shower and left it sit for about 20 minutes, while I cleaned the rest of the bathroom. I went back to my shower and literally wiped away all the dirt and soap scum with just a washcloth, reviving my shower back to a brand new sparkling clean...amazing! So I would say this Homemade Shower Cleaner truly is magic and oh so simple to make.

I love finding new simple solutions that actually work. I’m definitely going to keep a bottle of this Magic Homemade Shower Cleaner on hand to use on a regular basis. Next I want to try making this recipe with Seventh Generation dish soap or another natural brand of dish soap, hopefully it works well too.

Anybody else find a great new cleaning, organizing, or project idea on Pinterest?  I'm definitely pinning too much and need to start doing more, especially if they all work as well as this one!

Handprint Art - Santa, a Christmas Craft

Here’s a cute holiday decoration that my son made in Pre-School, a handprint Santa.

I love decorations for holidays that double as keepsakes. His favorite part of this Christmas craft project was gluing the white fluffy cotton balls on Santa's hat.
If you don’t want to save the art project, consider photographing it with a ruler by the hand-print Santa, so you can see how small your child's hand was at the time of the project.

White Elephant Gift Idea

Gift Not Included - White Elephant Gift Idea
Every year we have a large family Christmas party and rather than getting everyone a gift, each family brings a few white elephant gifts for a gift exchange.  Some years you come home with great presents, other years you get a pile of junk. My favorite white elephant gifts are the funny ones! They’re even better when the right person opens them, it makes for a fun party.

This year one of the gifts we took was a simple sandwich bag filled with a holiday themed “Gift Not Included!” message printed on white card stock and two AA Batteries.

You'll notice, we included a note at the bottom of the message indicating the batteries are new and do work, because at this party the first thing everyone checks is if it’s expired, broken, etc.

We wrapped this white elephant gift in a larger box, which made everyone afraid to pick it to open since it felt very light for the size of the box. It was a funny gift and I would say one of the more useful gifts at this years party.

Can’t wait to see the white elephant gifts everyone brings next year!

Trader Joe’s Chocolate Advent Calendars - Super Easy and Affordable Countdown Fun!

This year we’re building a Lego Advent Calendar with our son, which is going even better than we imagined and an advent calendar that was a gift from Sunday Church School.  Those would be more than enough countdown fun, then we stumbled across these super easy and affordable chocolate Advent Calendars at Trader Joe’s.  At only $.99, I got a few extras for our little man to hand out as small gifts at Thanksgiving to his cousins and grandparents.

Unfortunately, we all have terrible colds and haven’t even had a chance to try the chocolates yet!
Activities on Back

As you can see, the chocolates inside are not much bigger than a penny. We’re just going to all share the backed up chocolates after we’re feeling better.

We had a few DIY Advent Calendar ideas in the works, but those will have to wait until another year.  Three advent adventures is more than enough countdown excitement to get us ready for Christmas!
