Pick Your Own Fruits and Veggies – Locate a nearby Pick Your Own Farm

I’m a huge fan of fresh fruits and veggies, which is why I was happy to come across a useful website, PickYourOwn.org, that helps you find nearby Pick Your Own farms.

It’s amazing how much better freshly picked fruits and vegetables taste than what you typically find at a grocery store. Picking Your Own is a great way to teach kids about where food comes from and can be a great family activity. And who knows, maybe the kiddos will even try a new fruit or veggie too!

Last year, we took our son to a local Pick Your Own farm to pick a variety of apples. We had so much fun picking apples, taking pictures, and exploring the orchard. The apples were delicious as a snack, but also made the tastiest homemade applesauce for the baby and we made apple pies to share with friends and family. We’ve even gone to Pick Your Own farms on vacations. Like when we visited Florida and picked oranges….so fun!

I would definitely like to pick my own strawberries and whip up some easy homemade strawberry freezer jam.

If you’re looking for a fun activity for the family, consider going to a Pick Your Own farm. A lot of states have a list of Pick Your Own farms that you can find by doing a quick Internet search or try using the PickYourOwn.org website to locate a new Pick Your Own farm.

  1. What a great idea! We love the farmers market but going to the farm would definitely be an excellent education for our little one. Have a great weekend!
