Raw Apple Crisp Recipe – A Healthy and Delicious Dessert or Snack

I purchased a few local eastern Honeycrisp apples at the farm market over the weekend and was so excited to find a simple, healthy no-cook recipe to star this tasty fruit.

Raw Apple Crisp Recipe
Adapted from Whole Foods Market
Serves 8

Ingredients
3-4 Honeycrisp apples, cored and chopped
1/4 cup orange juice
3/4 cup pecan halves
3/4 cup hazelnuts
3/4 cup raisins
3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions
Apple Mixture: Put chopped apples in an 8-inch square baking dish or 2-quart casserole dish. Drizzle with orange juice and toss until the apples are coated.

Nut Mixture: In a food processor, combine pecans, hazelnuts, raisins, ginger and cinnamon and pulse just until chopped.

Spoon the nut mixture over the apple mixture and serve.

I love that this recipe isn’t super sweet, but has just enough sweetness with the orange juice and apples. The warm spices of cinnamon and ginger paired with crunchy nuts and chewy raisins are the perfect topping for fresh, crisp apples making Raw Apple Crisp a healthy yet satisfying dessert or snack.

We love this recipe and will definitely make it again. Next time I’ll half or quarter the recipe since it made too much for my husband, 2 year old son, and I to finish. I stored the leftovers in the fridge and served it as a fast, yummy breakfast the next morning. The orange juice even prevented the apples from turning brown.
